Our program.

At Royal dachshunds we pride ourselves on the quality of each baby. Our main goal is to produce the best pups possible for placement in the best homes possible. Focus is on integrity of the breed, personality and health. Because of the time and effort we need to accomplish this we must stay small.

How we’re different.

Our dogs are our family. We’re not a kennel or farm. Our dogs live inside full time. They sleep on our laps every evening and bark at the mailman everyday. Our dogs are bonded to us- they receive nutritious “table scraps”, they follow us to the bathroom, sleep in our bed, their treats are in the cookie jar next to ours. Family. Dachshunds are extremely loyal and like to be apart of the family. I would never think to have it any other way. Our puppies are only placed with homes that will follow this belief.

All of our litters are whelped in our master bedroom closet. Born right into my husband’s hands, helped clean, then umbilical cord cut by him; our 3 kids check in, praising Mama as she goes and awwwing over the new additions. Pups stay in the master until on regular food about 3-4 weeks, from there they join the rest of the Motley Crew. Roxy is happy to raise her babies next to her mate and their dad along with their big brother, Burt. Their playpen is set up between our kitchen and family room. They become a part of the family. Our 3 children become their first best friends. They learn to RUN to greet when you arrive, start potty training, house manners and how to hold down a lap.

Truly Hand Raised in Our Home

As you can see this quality is very time consuming, hence why we only produce so few. We feel this is the perfect way, our new families love our hard work and I hope you do too!

Our Dogs.

Brewsky

We’ll start with our Stud. AKC registered “Free’s Hebrew National”, Brewsky, is a kosher red smooth wiener who joined our family in August 2018 at 10 weeks old. He was an anniversary present for my husband who loved the breed growing up with 2 female miniature dachshunds, Abby, and Britney. He is 11.5 pounds of defined athletic build, sweet, cuddly, courteous, a hunter and the house’s main guard. He’s grabbed an ankle (can’t be too mad, I guess?) and likes to check the perimeter of the yard hourly. He’s also pretty smart, has a wonderful long snout that’s often lost today, and is always ready to go. He’s a good boy, low bark and loves his job.

Roxy

Next is AKC red wire “Free’s Roxy the Doxie”. She joined in March 2019 at 8 weeks. I knew when I set out for a mate for Brewsky I had very specific desires to insure the perfect litter outcomes. This came several months and hundreds of research hours later. She was also nearly 700 miles away! Roxy is a perfect 9 pound princess! Her coat does have a few flaws but Brewsky having a wire on his side has produced amazing coats. She’s mostly quiet, a sweet cuddlier, she likes best to stay out of drama. She’s a mama’s girl and loves the kids as much as I do. Most importantly she’s a fantastic mother. She’s blown me away with her gentle firmness as she teaches her babies. She takes great pride in them and it really shows! Roxy will be retired in late 2021 or mid 2022. She is our pet and will remain with us after retirement.

Burt

AKC silky black and cream “Burtimus Rex” joined us from Roxy and Brewsky’s first litter. Our middle daughter fell in love and we couldn’t say no. He’s her Pokémon; by her side at all times. He’s a sensitive altered boy who cries with happiness when she gets home from school or when receiving a good pet. He’s just a smidge bigger at 12 pounds and has a beautiful long full beard. He loves walks and a warm lap. I’ve never seen a dog be more loyal or attentive to their loved owner. It’s really neat and special!
